COROZAL TOWN, Sat. July 25, 2020– Corozal residents living in the area around Ricalde Stadium reported that gunshots were fired in the area at about 1:30 this morning, and at about 6:00 this morning, when some men went to the stadium to exercise, they saw a man lying on the ground beneath the bleachers. When they went closer, they saw that it was the lifeless body of Jair Tamai, 22, of 2nd Street.

Tamai had been shot in the head and chest. He was taken to the Corozal Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Many believe that Tamai was lured into the stadium last night and that the ongoing rivalries between gangs in the area might have led to what happened.
