GeneralRodman Welch charged with Shakeem Dennison’s murder

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Oct. 19, 2020– There has been progress in the case involving the October 12, 2020, murder of Shakeem Dennison, 26, a resident of Rivero Street in Belize City.

Investigators have arrested and charged Rodman Welch, 36, an unemployed man of a Belize City address, for Dennison’s death.

Sometime around 4:40 p.m. on Monday, October 12, Dennison and Jarvis Usher were playing basketball, “one-on-one,” when a man of African descent, believed to be Welch, arrived on a motorcycle.

The perpetrator, who was dressed in a black-and-white striped shirt and black pants and was wearing a helmet and a blue face mask, got off the motorbike, walked onto the court, and fired three shots at Dennison. The shooter then mounted his motorcycle and drove off in the direction of the Yarborough Bridge.

Police recovered three expended shells from the scene, and investigators are yet to uncover what may have been the motive for this murder.
