Aggravated burglary at PUP candidate Marconi Leal’s home

GeneralAggravated burglary at PUP candidate Marconi Leal’s home

SANDHILL, Wed. Nov. 4, 2020– There was an aggravated burglary at the home of PUP Belize Rural North candidate, Marconi Leal, yesterday evening in Sandhill Village, Belize District.  The politician was not at home at the time of the incident, but his wife, Michelle Leal, 55; daughter, Michelee Leal, 18; and daughter-in-law Shanelle Leal, 26, were there.

Reports are that around 9:30 p.m., the women were in a room in the upper flat of the two-story residence when Shanelle Leal’s attention was drawn to a shadowy figure standing behind the semi-opened door of the home.

She got up and opened the door, only to be accosted by three men wearing face-masks, one of whom was armed with what appeared to be a rifle.

The women were then dragged by the hair to the lower flat of the house, where the men tied them up and locked them up in a room, after which the burglars looted the home of electronic items, including a smart television set, several cell phones and other items.

One of the women was allegedly assaulted during the incident.

It is believed that the burglars escaped in a blue Chrysler car, which was found with its front-end in a swamp about two miles down the Maskall Village Road.

Inside the car, investigators found several of the stolen items, along with a pellet gun, a black plastic gun and a knife.
