SARTENEJA, Corozal District, Tues. Dec. 29, 2020– Braulio Villamil, 25, a resident of Sarteneja Village, passed away at the Northern Regional Hospital while being treated for injuries that he sustained in a road traffic accident that occurred on Thursday, December 24, on Coco Street in the village.

Odalis Mora, 20, a student from the same village, told investigators that at around 6:45 p.m. that night, she was riding her motorcycle on Coco Street, and shortly after passing a junction to her left, she saw Braulio Villamil on a motorcycle, traveling in the opposite direction. Villamil, she said, was accompanied by a passenger on his motorcycle, Edgerel Usziel Verde, 17.

During attempts to avoid potholes on Coco Street, the two motorcycles collided, and all three persons who were on the bikes were thrown into the air and onto the road.
Due to the impact of the collision, Odalis Mora suffered injuries to the right side of her face and injuries to her right arm.

Edgerel Usziel Verde suffered a scrape on the left side of his head and also complained of pain in his left shoulder.

Braulio Villamil suffered severe head injuries, and both he and Mora were transported to the Northern Regional Hospital for medical treatment.

At 8:35 p.m. that night, Villamil succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
