SAN IGNACIO, Cayo District, Sun. Apr. 11, 2021– A family of the Kontiki area of San Ignacio is still in a shaken state following an aggravated burglary at their home. Philip Ismael Lopez, 51, reported to the police that three armed Hispanic men forcibly entered his family’s home and subdued them and made off with $1,200 in cash and a gray Toyota 4Runner with license number SISE-07089.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett said, “On Saturday, sometime around 9:30 p.m., police were called to the home of Ismael Lopez in the Kontiki area of San Ignacio, where they learnt that shortly before 9:30 p.m., whilst Mr. Lopez was at home with his 4 children, they were approached by 3 Hispanic males who were armed and wearing masks, who entered his home…” According to Myvett, Lopez and his chicken were tied up, and the home was ransacked before the burglars escaped.
The police are currently investigating the incident, and they advise the general public to secure their homes and vehicles. ACP Myvett said, “In most instances, during these aggravated burglaries happening in the west, those homes are either not secured at the time the incidents are happening, or persons stepped outside of their homes to retrieve something from their vehicles.”
