BELMOPAN, Wed. Apr. 21, 2021– The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) continues to call all those persons who are eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccine to get their shot. To further encourage those persons to be vaccinated, the MOHW has launched a Covid-19 vaccination app that will make the process of accessing the vaccine easier for the public.
At this time, as of April 21, 2021 a total of 37,097 persons have been vaccinated so far in Belize. Three phases of the inoculation program are currently ongoing, but the Ministry decided to utilize technology to facilitate a smoother process for qualified citizens.
During an interview with 7News, Dr. Natalia Beer, Technical Advisor in the MOHW, said that persons will now be able to register for vaccination using the app, and through the app they will receive an approval text message, and a date on which they are to come in for their vaccines. This process, she said, will make the inoculation of the population an easier process for both healthcare workers and citizens.
It takes only about 3 minutes to sign up using the app, and persons who have already received their first Covid-19 shot need not sign up.
