Joshua Dyer gunned down in Belmopan home

HeadlineJoshua Dyer gunned down in Belmopan home

Belmopan, Sat. Sept. 4, 2021– On Friday, September 3, Joshua Dyer, a 24-year-old Belmopan resident, was found motionless and in a pool of his blood in his home.

Investigations by the Police Department revealed that around 7:30 that Friday night, a man of fair complexion, dressed in a black hoodie, went to Dyer’s home on Belize Street in Belmopan and knocked on the door, requesting to see Dyer. Dyer’s mother greeted the unknown man, who told her that someone from “the fence” had sent him to look for Joshua.

When she asked him to identify himself, the gunman stormed the home, forcibly stomped on the door of Dyer’s room to force it open, and fired three shots at him, which fatally wounded Dyer. The gunman then exited the room and fled.

While carrying out an initial investigation into the incident, police learned that Dyer had been involved in an altercation about a month ago with two persons. The two suspects were subsequently detained.

While the duo were in police custody, however, the Police Department conducted a further investigation into the matter, and discovered that both persons of interest had a substantive alibi — clearing them of any suspicions of their involvement in the crime. The police, however, are currently seeking one person in connection with Dyer’s murder as they continue to investigate this recent fatal shooting.
