Nine persons — eight adults and a minor— who allegedly stole close to $62,000 from Belize Dive Haven resort on Ropewalk Caye in the Turneffe Atoll area were jointly charged with theft when they appeared in the Magistrate’s Court in Belize City on Monday, October 3.
The nine individuals were identified as Brain Orlando Garcia, 27; Franklin Stuardo Guzman, 42; Gabino Emir Nah Jr., 19; Gabino Seferino Nah Sr., 38; Juan Sabino Perez, 58; Christian Vigil Samos, 27; Armando Edwin Patt, 30; Rinaldo Jueno Baptist, 20 and a 17-year-old minor, all fishermen from Chunox Village, Corozal District.
The group of nine reportedly entered Belize Dive Haven Resort on Friday, September 30, and stole several items, including two square tables valued at $2,000; snorkeling and diving equipment; 3 outboard engines, and garden lights valued at $16,000. The combined items are valued at $61,939.
The nine men all pleaded not guilty to the offense and were offered bail of $5,000 each, which they met. They are scheduled to reappear in court on Thursday, December 1.
