On Thursday, August 10, at the Biltmore Plaza in Belize City, the Belize Investment Summit (BIS) hosted a comprehensive media briefing to set the stage for its 2023 event, slated for August 30 to September 1 on the island of San Pedro. The aim of the briefing was to forge a stronger bond with the media and offer insights into the two-day agenda.
Organized in partnership with the Office of the Prime Minister, Beltraide, the Economic Development Council, and the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit, the Belize Investment Summit 2023 is dedicated to amplifying Belize’s investment appeal.
This year’s central theme, “Belize: Endless Opportunities,” focuses on building on three pivotal sectors of Belize’s economy: the green (renewable energy), blue (ocean ecosystem), and orange (creative) industries.
While the global economy, including Belize, faced setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the BIS 2023 embodies a rejuvenated spirit, extending an invitation to both local and international investors. It aims to channel this collective energy to revive Belize’s economic status.
A highlight of the summit is a live business pitch competition, offering a vibrant platform for investors to discover potential collaborations. With a projected attendance of over 500 participants, the event promises an enriched experience encompassing foreign delegate integration, business matchmaking sessions, and the strengthening of existing trade relationships.
The Summit’s three-day extravaganza will begin with a cocktail reception on August 30, in the evening, and the two-day segment that follows will include panel discussions, business presentations, business expos, Q&A sessions, among other topics.
Esteemed keynote speakers for the occasion include Belize’s Prime Minister, Hon. John Briceño; Minister of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology, Hon. Francis Fonseca; and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources, Petroleum, and Mining, Hon. Cordel Hyde.
