BELIZE CITY, Mon. Mar. 25, 2024

While police were busy investigating Ras Bobo’s murder last Friday evening on the Southside of Belize City, a second fatal shooting was happening in the city on the Northside, where Nigel Williams, 30, a taxi driver of Belize City, was the victim.

Reports indicate that around 10:50 p.m., Williams was driving a Toyota 4Runner along Dunn Street toward St. Thomas Street when his alleged attacker, identified as Tyrike Supal, 23, of Belize City, approached him and fired multiple shots in his direction.

As a result of being hit by the gunshots, Williams crashed into a drain at the intersection of Dunn Street and St. Peter Street. He then exited the vehicle and ran in the direction of St. Joseph Street with his assailant following behind him and repeatedly firing gunshots at him, until Williams collapsed and perished.

When police arrived at the scene they found Williams’ car inside the drain (as mentioned above) displaying bullet holes.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander of the Belize Police Department’s Eastern Division, mentioned that the deceased Williams had just visited his partner who resides in that area and was under fire a short while after leaving.

The Belize Police Department announced that Tyrike Supal was charged with the crime of murder. ACP Romero noted that both the deceased and his alleged killer were known to authorities and are gang affiliated, which was confirmed by Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams.

He added that Williams’ death was believed to be a retaliation shooting for the death of Leslie Young which took place in late December of last year.
