BELIZE CITY, Tues. June 11, 2024

Our Lady of Lourdes RC girls of Maskall Village and Our Lady of the Way RC boys of Ladyville emerged as champions of the Belize District primary schools football championships, held by the National Sports Council at the Berger Football Field in Belize City on Thursday, June 6.

The event began with the semifinal games and climaxed with the championship games for both the girls and the boys.

In the semifinal matches, Our Lady of Lourdes girls defeated Wesley Upper girls, 1-nil; St. Ignatius RC boys won over New Horizon boys of San Pedro, 2-nil; St. Joseph RC girls eliminated the San Pedro RC girls, 2-1; and in a dominating performance, Our Lady of the Way RC boys defeated St Joseph’s RC boys, 4-0.

In the girl’s championship match, Our Lady of Lourdes RC girls won over St Joseph’s girls 1-nil, with a goal by Demika Jones. In the boys’ championship game, Our Lady of the Way RC won over St. Ignatius RC, 3-1, with 2 goals from Kent Noralez and the other from Keylon Gordon, while Krence Flowers scored the lone goal for St. Ignatius.

Our Lady of Lourdes RC girls and Our Lady of the Way RC boys will represent the Belize District in the National Primary Schools Championships to be hosted by the National Sports Council at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk Town on June 13 and 14.
