The debate!

Does it matter if your words have no meaning? I suppose it depends on who the audience is, who is listening to you, and if they agree or disagree with you, in general. Tonight was one of those clarifying moments, not only for the voters, but also for the world, which has a stake in the outcome of this coming election! Words matter; sometimes they define you, forever. They are more powerful than guns or bombs, and can change the world; words! They are expensive and non-refundable, especially when the fate of a nation depends on them! Henry II, in 1170 said to those in his court, “Will no one rid me of the meddlesome priest?” Some of his knights took it to heart and murdered Thomas Beckett, Archbishop of Canterbury. This flawed man became a martyr, and then a saint. Words matter!

Tonight, we witnessed the descent into madness, of mendacious mendacity, malice, misappropriation of words, misinformation, maligning minorities, and misogyny, of an unhinged old man way past his prime and time! He did not answer any of the questions he was asked. He almost seemed deranged in his repetitions of the few pointers that his handlers drilled into his shallow mind. He was a total embarrassment to the country, to the politics of the country. His disrespect and disregard for the American people were on full display.

Kamala Harris did not answer all the questions asked of her; but at least she was coherent, not like the ramblings of that aged, dishonest man. I felt some pity for this shell of a human being, a naked emperor who seems to suffer from amnesia, a revisionist in his full glory, a man who is fighting as hard as he can not to go to jail.

I don’t think tonight will matter much in the long run. This election has already been decided, despite the fact that the pundits will try to convince you to the contrary! He will lose, and lose bigly, in my opinion. This debate was embarrassing for the former president! He was angry and babbling and pouting and totally dishonest; did I mention that before? He was dishonest!

I’m glad this debate took place. If you were undecided, which I will never understand, tonight clarifies that choice between a babbling idiot and a thoughtful, educated woman. Hopefully, misogyny in both men and women has diminished in America, giving this very qualified woman the chance to lead us in a more optimistic and positive direction!

It will be hard work; but I believe, if one cares for one’s country, the choice should be easy.

Glen
