GeneralAccused rapists get bail

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Apr. 12, 2021– On Friday, April 9, Justice Herbert Lord granted bail to two men accused of the rape of a minor. They were arraigned on Tuesday and released from the Belize Central Prison just days later.

The accused, Tashane Williams and Theodore Andrew, were granted Supreme Court bail, after they were both remanded on one count of rape, with Willams being charged also with one count of attempted rape of a minor and Andrews (who is accused of recording the incident) being slapped with one additional count of sexual assault.

The men are expected back in court on June 12. They must sign in at the police station three times a week and refrain from communication with the alleged victim. A 100-yard restraining order is in effect, in addition to other restrictions.
