Akeem White killed senselessly in New York

GeneralAkeem White killed senselessly in New York

The younger brother of the Director of Days of Healing (Belize), Perry “Sticks” Smith, was gunned down senselessly in New York City while walking on Kips Bay on Sunday.

Akeem White, the 29-year-old victim, is said to have been minding his own business when the gunman asked, “What are you looking at?” before firing the shot that would claim his life.

When police went to the scene of the shooting on East 26th, it was already too late, White had succumbed to his injury. New York police have made no arrests as yet, and their investigation is ongoing.

Akeem White’s death hits home for us at Amandala. His mother, Cecilia Usher, was our secretary during the 1970s and ’80s before moving to New York.
We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Akeem White.
