Police charged Alden Lara, a construction worker, for the murder of Michael Barrera.
Lara was remanded to the Belize Central Prison, after he was arraigned on the murder charge today, before Magistrate Khadeem Palmer.
The court set Lara’s adjournment date to June 2, when he will be brought back to court.
On Tuesday evening, Barrera, a resident of Racecourse Street, was on his way home, but stopped to buy food at “Sue’s,” located at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Iguana Street, when he was shot by a gunman.
Reports are that Barrera, a longtime employee of CYDP, was shot in the back of the head after another man, who was said to be the gunman’s target, hid behind Barrera, before he ran away, leaving his bicycle behind.
