Annual children’s rally held at Civic Center

HeadlineAnnual children’s rally held at Civic Center

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Sept. 17, 2018– The Children’s Rally, held annually as part of the September Celebrations, took place this year at the new Civic Center, and thousands of students from 31 schools from across the Belize district, attended the event.

Local musicians performed at the event to keep the children entertained. The students were also given the opportunity to show their patriotism by waving their Belize flags and by singing patriotic songs.

There were also competitions and raffles that gave the children the chance to win prizes such as laptops and tablets.

Minister of Education, Hon. Patrick Faber, told the press that he was glad the children were able to once again enjoy the facilities of the Civic Center, since it’s been a number of years since the rally has been held there.

He mentioned that during his presentation, he told the children that “[the ministry] will start on a campaign in our education system to promote character-value education, and the ones that we promoted today are for them to be respectful, for them to be kind, for them to be honest and for them to be patriotic.”

He continued by asking the public to practice these values in their homes as well as in their communities.

The children proudly celebrated their country’ independence by participating in the different activities at the rally and by loudly exclaiming this year’s September Celebrations theme: “Belize Da Fi Wi – Now & Forever, 8867.”

Mayor Bernard Wagner and Miss Universe Belize 2018 Jenelli Fraser were also present at the rally, among others.
