San Ignacio, Cayo District, Sat. Aug. 28, 2021– Yesterday, two armed men of Hispanic descent entered the “Love Town” smoothie located at the Welcome Center in San Ignacio Town and robbed 52-year-old business owner, Zheng Rong Zha, of his iPhone 7 and an undisclosed amount of money.
Video footage revealed that the robbers entered Zha’s establishment around 7:30 that morning. The armed men, fully clothed in black, casually walked into the establishment, then one robber revealed a gun and aimed it at Zha. Zha was then stripped of his phone, subdued, and held at gunpoint by one of the robbers.
The other robber began to search the business and loot it of anything of worth. Footage showed the robber searching the cabinets behind the counter and emptying the contents in his black backpack.
The police immediately responded to the incident and have since detained one named person who is pending charges following an investigation. From the suspect, the police were able recover Zha’s iPhone; however, the cash has not yet been found. The police continues to investigate this robbery and is seeking one other suspect in relation to the incident.
