The letter referred to alleges that the article ?contains statements against Mr. Adolphus that are defamatory?. I am sorry that misinterpretation of the contents of my article led to that conclusion. I never alleged nor did I intend to insinuate that you committed the crime of theft. The paragraph which is complained of has a sentence, viz., ?My money is in their pockets?. This did not refer to you or to anyone personally, but is a general statement to mean that the Belize Ex-Services League has money for me ? the money, figuratively speaking, is in the pockets of the league. I never meant the statement to mean that you stole the money.

In paragraph 7 of the article I reported that you told a meeting of the Executive Council that you wrote our Head Office in Canada re the Roberts project referred to in the article telling the Head Office not to entertain Mr. Roberts. I have never seen a copy of the letter nor any response thereto. If the letter was in fact sent, then I am wrong and seeing a copy will prove the statement about your speaking untruth was not justified.

In any event, Mr. President, I apologize for any harm caused to you and your family by the seemingly defamatory statements. I am sorry.

I am copying this letter to your attorney, and to the Amandala for publication.
