BELIZE CITY, Wed. Apr. 19, 2023

The Belize Athletics Association (BAA) held its National Track & Field Championships 2023 over the past weekend, Saturday and Sunday, April 15-16, at the Marion Jones Sports Complex track where athletes from across the country competed for top national honors in their respective events. The times for the track events were all electronically recorded, but due to some technical difficulties, no times were recorded for the 1500m, 3K or 5K races.

Incidentally, the 1500m Male event featured recent CARIFTA double gold medalist Demetrie Myers who again ran away from the competition, this time separating himself early from defending national champion, Albert Davis, who had defeated Daniel Meyers, Demetrie’s older brother, in that event at last year’s National’s. Also in that 2022 National’s, Davis had stayed with Demetrie for the length of the 5K race, then used his finishing kick to beat Demetrie to the tape. This year, Daniel was not in attendance at the meet due to an injury, and Demetrie was taking no chances in avenging his and his brother’s defeat. Unfortunately, though maintaining a blistering pace that may likely have been a Belize 1500m record, Demetrie’s victory had no time recorded.

Below are the Finals results.
