SANTA ELENA, Cayo District, Fri. Nov. 9, 2018– Raul Roches, 21, a resident of Ontario, Cayo, who is a well-known basketball player in the National Elite Basketball League, is fighting for his life in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH)’s Intensive Care Unit after he suffered massive head and body injuries in a road traffic accident at about 3:00 this morning in Santa Elena.

Roches was driving his motorcycle from San Ignacio to Santa Elena and was heading off the Hawkesworth Bridge into Santa Elena when he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into the cement wall of Boiton Barbeque. The motorcycle then skidded into the wall of the Highway Super Store, causing Roches to fall off the motorcycle and onto the pavement, which resulted in severe injuries to his head and body.

Roches was rushed to the San Ignacio Community Hospital, where he was given initial treatment and then rushed to the KHMH for intensive care.

Police have begun an investigation into this almost-fatal accident.
