BELIZE CITY, Mon. Apr. 10, 2017–The most anticipated event of the year, the Belize Body Building and Fitness Federation (BBBFF) Strong Man & Woman Annual Competition took place yesterday, Sunday, April 9. The competition was held at the BTL Park at the Newtown Barracks in Belize City, and saw a total of 14 competitors, both males and females. The females competed across four disciplines, which included bench press, squats, dead-lift & tire flip; while the males competed in six disciplines: bench press, squats, dead-lift, tire flip, formers walk & the ultimate crowd pleaser – the Vehicle Pull.
The overall winners for the females were as follows:
First Place went to Roberta Usher, representing Hill View Train Station Gym in San Ignacio Cayo
Second Place went to Jasmine Armstrong from Hill View Train Station Gym in San Ignacio Cayo.
Third Place went to Emma Jones of the Belize Body Building and Fitness Federation Gym (BBBFF) in Belize City
The overall winners for the males were as follows:
First Place – Kaylon Godoy of Muscle Hut Fitness Club in Belmopan.
Second Place – Robert Williams of the Belize Body Building and Fitness Federation Gym in Belize City.
Third Place – Justin Awe of the Hill View Train
The individual categories in the Strong Man Competition 2017 for the males went to:
Robert Williams, First Place – in the Bench Press Category, Mr. Williams successfully lifted 415 pounds off his chest and did 10 repetitions with 315 pounds to beat his competitors.
Justin Awe, First Place – in the Squat Category, Mr. Awe successfully squatted 545 pounds and did 8 repetitions with 405 pounds to outdistance his competitors; & First Place – in the SUV Pull Category, Mr. Awe did the 100-foot course in 38.44 seconds.
Kaylon Godoy, First Place – in the Dead Lift Category, Mr. Godoy successfully dead-lifted a Belize record of 600 pounds. He also got First Place in the Farmers Walk Category; Mr. Godoy successfully completed the 120-yards course with two 140 pound dumb bells in a first-time record of 15.91 seconds.
Sean Gillett, First Place – in the Tire Flip Category, Mr. Gillett completed the 120-yards course in 4 minutes and 22 seconds to beat his competitors.
The Females 1st, 2nd & 3rd place were awarded cash prizes, courtesy the Belize City Council; a 1st place trophy, Glamour Protein, medals and multivitamins for all competitors, all courtesy of Spiez Pharmaceuticals. In addition, the 3 top winners received a gift certificate, courtesy of Chukka Adventure Tours, that included: ATV, Jungle Buggy, Zip Lining, and Crystal Cave Tubing Combo; other prizes included a lunch buffet for 2, courtesy Belize Biltmore Plaza.
The Males in 1st, 2nd & 3rd place were awarded with cash prizes, courtesy the Belize City Council; trophies from the Belize Trophy Depot; Military Trail Whey Protein, medals and multivitamins for all competitors, courtesy of Spiez Pharmaceuticals. In addition, the 1st place winners received a Cellular Phone Samsun Xpress 3, courtesy Cellular World; a round trip to San Pedro, courtesy San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi; and two nights for two at Costa Blue Resort, courtesy Sandy Point Resort. Other prizes included a dinner for two, courtesy Chon Saan Palace.
