JACINTOVILLE, Toledo District, Thurs. June 17, 2021– Yesterday around 4:30 p.m., a 33-year-old BDF soldier was involved in a traffic accident that claimed his life near Jacintoville, in the Toledo District, after allegedly driving in the wrong lane.

Hipolito Sho, a resident of Santa Elena Village, was seen lying on the right side of the road, with his extensively damaged motorcycle just feet away. Also on the scene was

a white pickup truck, with apparent damage to its left front portion, according to police.

Jerry Nicholas, a 31-year-old field technician from Punta Gorda Town who was driving the pickup, told police that he saw Sho coming from the opposite direction on his motorcycle, and that soon Sho’s motorcycle was directly in front of his truck on the same lane of the road. Nicholas reported that he allegedly tried to honk his horn, but the motorbike continued on its path, thus causing the deadly collision.

Sho was taken to the Punta Gorda Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

There is no indication whether alcohol could have been a factor in the recent deadly accident, and according to police, no notice of intended prosecution was served on Nicholas. Police’s investigation continues.
