After being defeated by St. Vincent and the Grenadines with a 1 – 2 score on Friday, September 8, the Belize National “A” Team, the Jaguars, were able to redeem themselves against French Guiana on Tuesday, September 12, winning the match, 2 – nil.

On Friday, Belize’s midfielder, Nana Mensah, secured the team’s first goal at the 18-minute mark. and multiple goal attempts were made to further extend that lead, but failed. Another goal was scored, but by St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the 51st minute through an inbound corner kick and a header by attacker, Marlon Simmons. Then at the 78th minute, an auto goal was scored, putting St. Vincent and the Grenadines up in the match, 2-1, and securing their win.

Belize was able to draw their trip (a win and a loss) with two goals against French Guiana. The initial goal was the result of a header by midfielder Jordy Polanco at the 64th minute. Then shortly after at the 68th minute, another goal was scored by midfielder Angelo Cappello, securing the victory for the Jewel.

Belize is set to play Bermuda on October 13, and a rematch against French Guiana is set to take place in Belize on November 17.

The team is expected to return to the country on Friday, September 15.
