BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Feb. 6, 2020– Primary school basketball, female (F) and male (M), continues daily with games in the afternoons at Swift Hall; and while some of the teams are not very competitive, with a number of lopsided scores resulting, there are a few teams that stand out, and some raw talents beginning to emerge in the Belize City Primary Schools Basketball Tournament 2019-2020.

Game 1 on Friday saw (F) St. John’s Anglican blowing out Muslim Community, 17-0. Neecia Casimiro netted 12 pts for St. John’s. In game 2, (M) it was St. John’s Anglican with the 20-4 win over Muslim Community. Jernick Hyde had 9 pts for St. John’s, while Nissani Mariano got all 4 pts for Muslim Community. And in the big match-up of undefeateds, (M) Belize Elementary prevailed, 26-22, over Wesley Upper. Zakir Medina led Belize Elementary with 6 pts, while Thomas Garcia and James Saldano each had 6 pts for Wesley Upper.

Wesley Upper – Zidane Swazo 14 pts; Queen’s Square – Jahrayne Vernon and Tishawn Gillett 2 pts each.

Wed. Feb. 5: (M) Holy Redeemer, 27-2, over Salvation Army. Holy Redeemer – Damari Gentle 10 pts; Salvation Army – Kenard Armstrong 2 pts. (M) St. Ignatius Anglican, 16-4, over Trinity Methodist. St. Ignatius – Khayden Staine 6 pts; Trinity – Gilbert Belgrave and Leon Myles 2 pts each. (M) St. Mary’s Anglican, 21-18, over St. John Vianney. St. Mary’s – Jason Orosco 18 pts; St. John – Mark Ramsey 7 pts.

Thurs. Feb. 6: (M) Belize Elementary, 24-17, over St. Martin De Porres. Belize Elementary – Lindsy Wade, Jr. 7 pts; St. Martin – Delbert Arthurs 6 pts. (M) James Garbutt SDA, 32-9, over Queen’s Square Anglican. James Garbutt – Lucas Oliva 11 pts; Queen’s Square – Juavann Morgan 4 pts.
