The Belize Elite Basketball League (BEBL) formerly the NEBL 2023 season commences on Friday, January 27, 2023. After an abrupt closure of the season in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, basketball returns at its highest level in Belize. The season will feature eight teams: the San Pedro Tiger Sharks, Orange Walk Running Rebels, Belize Hurricanes, Belize City Defenders, Belmopan Red Tigaz, Western Ballaz (of San Ignacio), Dangriga Dream Ballers and Punta Gorda Panthers.
There are three games scheduled for the opening weekend. The season opener to be played on Friday, January 27, 2023, will feature the Belize City Defenders facing off against the Dangriga Dream Ballers. The game will start at 9:00 p.m. at the Belize Civic Centre. Saturday, January 28, 2023, will feature two matches. At 7:30 the Western Ballaz will play against the Orange Walk Running Rebels at 7:30 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Auditorium in San Ignacio. While at 9:00 p.m. in Punta Gorda the Panthers will face the Belize Hurricanes. We encourage all supporters to come out and enjoy. Games will also be televised on TNC 10.
