BELIZE CITY, Sun. July 14, 2024

The Belize United under-13 boys won their 4th consecutive BTB Under-13 Mundialito championship, while the 2-time defending female champions, Royal Fusion won their 3rd consecutive championship in the Finals organized by the Belize District Football Association (BDFA) and sponsored by the Belize Tourist Board (BTB) at the Berger Field in Belize City on Sunday morning, July 14.

In Game 1, the Phoenix FC girls won the consolation match for 3rd place, 2-1, over the Ladyville Goal Getters, with a goal each from Alexis Smith (4’) and Audilyssa Bowen (26’). Only Sheren Humes scored for Ladyville.

In Game 2, Berger United won the consolation match for 3rd place, 3-1, over the Sampson-Brown Bombers, with goals by Latrell Frazer (6’) and Breylin Middleton (26’), and they also profited from an own goal when Sampson’s Zion Clark deflected the ball into his own net (35’). Only Aiden Simpson (25’) scored for the Bombers.

In Game 3 for the female championship, MVP Amina Burgess’ brace (3’ & 32’) led the Royal Fusion girls to their 3rd title, as they prevailed, 3-1, over the Alvian Strikers, with Jocelyn Zuniga (12’) delivering the 2nd goal for Fusion, after Aisha Reyes (5’) had equalized the score at 1-1 for the Strikers.

In Game 4 for the male championship, 3x defending champions Belize United had to go to penalties to prevail 4-3 over the Ladyville Rising Stars, after a scoreless draw in regulation and 10 minutes of overtime. In penalties, Ralph Mendoza, Jaime Dominguez, Schae Gordon, and Chris Gilharry scored for Belize United; while MVP goalkeeper Noe Flores stopped Ladyville’s 3rd and 5th tries, with only Frederick Garbutt, Kent Noralez, and Jahon Kingston scoring for Ladyville.
