Buzzer Beater strikes again

SportsBuzzer Beater strikes again

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Nov. 30, 2015–Breaking a long string of Yabra Over 40 victories, Plaza Over 40 stunned the Yabra veterans, 1-nil, at the MCC yesterday evening on a first half goal by Michael (Baptist) Flowers, aka Wataplat or “the Buzzer Beater,” the name tagged on him by Gilroy “Press” Cadogan in recognition of his penchant for scoring last minute, often game winning, goals during his Second Division playing career. ‘Plat, who is the perennial coach of Ladyville Jaguars youth teams, says he is getting back in playing form, following a two year break after a badly injured leg in a road accident.

Each Sunday afternoon, following the U-15 tournament games at the MCC, the veterans take the field for a friendly encounter. Yesterday, ‘Plat got the only goal, the game winner, for Plaza. Big-up yoself, the Buzzer Beater!
