CEMJC graduation ceremonies

LettersCEMJC graduation ceremonies

Saturday, May 31, 2025

Dear Editor,

Saturday, May 24, 2025 was Graduation Day for Centro Escolar Mexico Junior College (CEMJC). My granddaughter, Yerlin Cuello, was among them and yours truly was present.

Man, was I impressed! 209 graduates! Check out the 9 courses: Agribusiness, 33 graduates; Architecture, 30 grads; Biology NRM, 23 grads; Business Entrepreneurship ACE, 12 grads; Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology, 21 grads; Information Technology, 14 grads; Business Entrepreneurship, 30 grads; Tourism Management 2A, 22grads; Tourism Management 2B, 24 grads. Hundreds of proud relatives! Big Respect to Dean Hugo Gonzalez who has done a wonderful job over the years, and I understand he is now retiring because of personal circumstances.

There were more females than males, and the valedictorian and salutatorian were females. Our males need to step up.

Man, in 1971 when I graduated from Muffles High School we were only 15, and courses offered were only 2, Commercial and Academic. I think 8 grads in one, and 7 in the other course. With the changing times, the Commercial course is now obsolete. Typing and shorthand have disappeared, and bookkeeping is now done by computers. Only Office Management remains, somewhat.

I would like to thank our neighbor, Mexico, for helping us with this school. It is a sign of a country’s true caring for his brothers and the good of mankind.

Mexico, we salute you!

Regards,

Romel Cuello
