Chinese businessman charged with “trafficking in persons”

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Oct. 19, 2020– As a result of a report in June 2019 that alleged the trafficking of three women, Inspector Jian Young arrested and charged Jin Zhou Wu, 41, a Chinese businessman of Calcutta Village, Corozal District, on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at 6:30 p.m., with three counts of “trafficking in persons”.

Wu was arraigned on October 16, 2020, in the Dangriga Magistrate’s Court, where he was read three counts of trafficking in persons — allegedly with the purpose of compelling his victims to be prostitutes.

He was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until December 16, 2020.
