A gap remained to be filled among the 19 Chief Executive Officers whom Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño appointed on Wednesday, March 19; that of chief executive officer at the Ministry of Transport, to work with Hon. Louis Zabaneh PhD.
Commissioner of Police Chester Williams did not deny reports that the Financial Secretary, Joseph Waight had advised him that the job is open to him, if he should so choose to accept. Williams also did not confirm if he would be taking on the job as CEO for transport, though he would have to inform the Prime Minister of his decision by the close of business Thursday evening.
In a media interview Thursday morning, Williams intimated that he had reached the pinnacle of his career in his six short years as Commissioner of Police, and that he felt he had little more to learn in the job, and perhaps it was time to explore new horizons.
He said he was confident that he had the capability to perform well in the new post offered to him, and that it would not be wise to turn down the Prime Minister’s request, as the job offered him opportunity for new growth and career development.
