Condition of Kassman Gill, 15, worsens

GeneralCondition of Kassman Gill, 15, worsens

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Aug. 23, 2021– Kassman Gill, a 15-year-old SJC student, remains sedated and hospitalized after being brutally gunned down on Magazine Road on August 17 while he was on his way to a friend’s house.

One of the bullets penetrated the back of Gill’s head and caused damage that is likely permanent. At the moment, Gill is paralyzed from the shoulder downward. Doctors believe that even if he survives, he may never walk again.

Over the weekend, Gill’s condition deteriorated. His lungs had collapsed, and as a result he has been placed under an induced coma to stabilize him. According to reports, Gill also suffered a cardiac arrest. It was reported that his heart stopped beating for approximately 4 minutes before doctors were able to resuscitate him and increase his dosage of medication. At the moment, his blood pressure is being regulated through medication, in an effort to prevent a reoccurrence of a cardiac arrest.

Gill is also yet to receive surgery. His family wanted an MRI to be done, but it was not possible due to Kassman’s current condition. The family is hoping that he could be flown out of the country so that he can receive specialized treatment that could save his life, but they do not have the financial means to make this possible. They are thus pleading with the public to assist them in covering Gill’s medical fees. They have set up a GoFundMe page that can be accessed at https://gofund.me/bf94f3e6. As of today, the campaign has raised $5,376 of the targeted $7,000 for fees.
