GeneralCop and brother, released on bail for firearm and ammo

COROZAL TOWN, Mon. Feb. 17, 2020– Constable Darwin Hernandez, 28, a police officer from Corozal who, jointly with his brother, Rony Hernandez, 34, a construction worker of Altamira, Corozal Town , was arraigned at the Corozal Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, on charges of keeping a firearm and ammunition without a gun license and keeping stolen goods.

They were remanded until April 21, 2020.

However, on Friday, their attorney, Baja Shoman, applied for and secured bail for them from the Supreme Court, and Justice Antoinette Moore granted them bail of $10,000 each and a surety of the same amount. The Crown was represented by Crown Counsel Shanice Lovell.

Police said that while in possession of a loaded firearm, the policeman was drinking at the northern border and was causing a disruption, and police were called. When police checked, they found out that the gun was a firearm stolen from Precinct 3, Belize City.
