Countrywide curfew reinstated

HeadlineCountrywide curfew reinstated

BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Nov. 26, 2020– During a press conference hosted by the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Minister Michel Chebat informed the public that a countrywide curfew is scheduled to commence on Saturday, November 28, at 9:00 p.m. This curfew will run for 21 days, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. each day.

Hopefully, the new curfew will be lifted on December 19, 2020, in time for the Christmas holidays.

This curfew is a part of the new response strategy being implemented by the newly formed Ministry of Health and Wellness. A previous nationwide curfew in Belize was lifted on Friday, September 4, after the then Government had initiated a National State of Emergency on August 7 and placed four areas under a total lockdown.

The Ministry of Health is hopeful that these measures, coupled with increased testing across the country, will contain the spread of the terrible coronavirus.
