DANGRIGA, Stann Creek District, Wed. June 19, 2019– The regular season of the Dangriga Mayor’s Cup 2019 competition was completed tonight with the playing of a back match, where Sampson Proper Fix clinched the last playoff spot in Group A when they bombed Hope Creek Pumas, 7-0, with goals from Alton Carr (21’ & 40’), Dwayne Sampson (43’ & 53’), Dylon Williams (80’ & 56’) and Myreque Francis (69’).
The top 4 Group B teams had already been decided; but in Group A, the 4th playoff spot was up for grabs among 3 teams – Pomona Impacts and Hopkins Ibayani with 13 points each, and Sampson Proper Fix at 11 points, with the back match remaining against Hope Creek Pumas, who were clearly out of playoff contention at 7th place with only 9 points. Now at 14 points with the victory over Hope Creek Pumas, Sampson Proper Fix completes the top 4 playoff team list in Group A. (See updated Group A standings below.)
The Semifinal Playoffs round will be played next weekend, Friday, June 28 and Sunday, June 30. It will be a knockout-style semifinals round, “win, or go home.”
