Dangriga shooting leaves one dead

GeneralDangriga shooting leaves one dead

DANGRIGA, Sun. Nov. 22, 2020– Two men were targeted by an armed assailant on the night of November 19 in Dangriga, and one of them was found dead.  The deceased has been identified as fisherman Roger Blanco, 21.

The attack occurred in the “Back-a-town” area of Dangriga at around 7:30 p.m.  Reports suggest that Blanco and Maxwell Ventura, 18, had gone to make purchases at a nearby shop when the two were accosted by two armed perpetrators who opened fire on the men.

Blanco was hit multiple times and ran into nearby bushes at the corner of Mangrove Road and Yemeri Road, where he died.    Ventura told investigators that prior to the shooting, they were being followed by two dark-complexioned men.

Roger’s father, Francis Blanco, was caught off guard by the news of his son’s death: “It was surprising to me when I heard he got shot. He goes to the cayes and come right back in.  He wasn’t a troublemaker I know about,” he said.

Head of the National Crime Investigation Branch, ACP Joseph Myvett, said that investigators have identified a primary suspect in this case, and are currently trying to locate that person. They are also following “credible leads”.
