Dangriga Town Council 2017 Mayor’s Cup regular season kickoff

DANGRIGA, Thurs. Mar. 16, 2017–Here are the Week 2 results from the Stann Creek District Football Association’s U-13 Smart Mundialito games that were played at the Carl Ramos Stadium on Saturday afternoon, March 11, starting at 1:00 p.m. In game 1, Montise won over Benguche DYFA, 1 goal to nil; but Montise lost that 3 points because of an over-age player. The 3 points went to Benguche DYFA. In game 2, Southside Warriors won over Ubafu, 3 goals to 1. Devin Marshall, Aaron Esterio and Dirrel Salguiero hit one apiece for Southside, while Ubafu’s only goal came from Marvin Swaso.

Game 3 saw Silk Grass vs New Site ending in a nil-nil draw. And in game 4, Wagierale Young Bombers won over Hopkins, 3 goals to nil. Ozil Martinez hit 2 and Nathan Cal hit the other.

The Stann Creek F.A. U-13 Smart Mundialito continues with Week 3 games this Saturday at the Carl Ramos Stadium, starting at 1:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 18, Week 3
Game 1 – Silk Grass vs Ubafu
Game 2 – Montise vs Wageirale Young Bombers
Game 3 – Hopkins vs Southside Warriors
Game 4 – Benguche vs New Site

Mayor’s Cup kickoff

The Dangriga 2017 Mayor’s Cup regular season tournament will officially kick off this Friday and Sunday at the Carl Ramos Stadium. 16 teams will take part; and they are split into two groups – A and B, as follows:

Group A – Hopkins; Sampson FC; Conquerors; Department of Youth Services (DYS); Wagiya; Belize Coast Guard; Valley Pride; and YG F.C.

Group B – A&N F.C.; DYFA; Silk Grass; Foreshore Empires; Pomona Warriors; New Site; Youth Grass; Hope Creek Pumas.

Mayor’s Cup schedule correction
The Mayor’s Cup Executive met on Tuesday night and decided to shift up the games for Week 1 to make all the teams comfortable, especially those from the villages and out-district. Therefore, the games previously scheduled for Sunday have been moved to Friday night; and the Friday night games were moved to Sunday.

Therefore, the revised Mayor’s Cup Week 1 schedule:
Friday, March 17
6:30 p.m. – DYFA vs Youth Grass
8:30 p.m. – Hopkins vs Belize Coast Guard
Sunday, March 19
3:30 p.m. – New Site vs Silk Grass
5:30 p.m. – Dept.of Youth Services vs Sampson FC

Home team Wagiya, after that 11-nil shutout from the Belmopan Bandits, has learned a lesson on how to stay focused, and has proven that to their home fans after a 4-2 victory over P.G.’s Freedom Fighters and a 2-2 draw with Belize Defence Force FC.

This Sunday, March 19, the young, talented Wagiya will be on the road inside Belize City’s MCC Grounds against F.C. Belize. The running, gunning youths from Wagiya said this Sunday will be their first road win.

The Dangriga home fans are all filled with joy, and are confident that their home team, Dangriga Dream Ballers definitely can bring home the championship in Dangriga this season.
Home team Dangriga Dreams Ballers will also be on the road this weekend, inside the town with all the pride and joy, Orange Walk Sugar City, taking on Orange Walk Running Rebels on Saturday night. This game here will be “by-any-means” a victory for Griga Dream Ballers.
