GeneralFarmer dies in road accident

SAN ESTEVAN, Orange Walk District, Fri. Apr. 17, 2020– Octavio Antonio Cowo, 50, a farmer of Orange Walk Town, was reportedly traveling from Orange Walk Town to San Estevan in his pickup at 9:00 tonight, when, on his arrival just outside San Estevan, he lost control of the vehicle, which overturned.

Cowo was thrown out of the vehicle and onto the pavement. He suffered massive head and body injuries and died almost immediately.

Police said that on their arrival at the scene of the accident, they saw Cowo lying motionless in the bushes about 3 feet off the road, and there were massive injuries to his head. The pickup he was driving was seen about 50 feet away from him.

Cowo was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital, where he was officially declared dead.

Cowo’s death occurred 6 days after the death of Cristobal Cano, 40, a farmer of Concepcion, Corozal District, who was involved in an accident at about 10:00 on the night of Holy Saturday.

Cano was riding on his motorcycle from Corozal Town to his village when he lost control of the bike. He fell off his motorcycle and onto the pavement, and suffered massive head and body injuries.

He was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital in a critical condition, and afterwards was transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. The accident occurred between Miles 74 and 75 on the Philip Goldson Highway.
