He then decided to go back outside to see where the young man had gone, but encountered the youth at the shop?s door, holding a .380 pistol, which he pointed at Madrill.

?Let?s go inside and give me all the money,? the youth said.

They were just about to enter the shop when Madrill?s granddaughter saw the young man and asked him what he was doing there. Madrill said that as the youth looked at his granddaughter, he quickly grabbed a machete and chopped the young man?s left hand, and the gun went off.

Luckily, the bullet missed Madrill and landed in the shop?s wall. The youth quickly ran away, heading toward Vernon Street, leaving behind his white beach cruiser.

Police recovered one .380 expended shell from the scene and are seeking one person for questioning.

Madrill said the he has been in business for over twenty years and will not give up without a fight.

?This shop helped me to put all my five children through school, and right now, I am presently putting my three grandchildren through school,? said Madrill.
