BELIZE CITY, Thurs. May 6, 2021– On Monday of this week, the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) announced that it had commenced preparation for the 2021 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship which takes place in Alajuela, Costa Rica through May 17 to 23 at the Fedefutbol Plycem Sports Complex.
The 11 participating teams include the Bahamas, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, the USA and Belize. Belize is in Group A where we face Mexico on May 17, and Panama on May 18.
Training at the newly constructed Beach Soccer pitch at the FFB Headquarters began with 16 players, which was reduced to 12 players in the final selection that will be traveling to Costa Rica on May 14.
The 2021 Belize National BeachSoccer Team includes: goalkeepers – Rugerri Treho (San Pedro Pirates FC) and Brenton Garcia (Dangriga Beach Soccer); defenders – Jermaine Jones (Belmopan Invaders), Carlos Bent (Dangriga Beach Soccer), Sean Mas (San Pedro Pirates FC), Brandon Jones (Belmopan Invaders) and Sean Caliz (Wagiya Sporting Club); midfielders – Devaney Tillett (Hopkins Ibayani), Raymond Ramos (Dangriga Beach Soccer), Devin Guzman (Seine Bight Christ Warriors) and Evan Mariano (Dangriga Beach Soccer); and striker – Marlon Meza (Belmopan Invaders).
The Technical Staff comprises: Dennis Serano – Head Coach, Ervin Casimiro – Assistant Coach, Victor Orellano – GK Coach, Herbert Trapp – Equipment Manager, David Pacheco – Doctor, Ben Aba – Physiotherapist, and Philip Marin – Technical Director.
