SportsFFB appoints Wayne Casimiro as Coach for Women’s Football

BELMOPAN, Tues. Feb. 2, 2021– The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) is proud to announce that Coach Wayne Casimiro has been appointed as the Coach for Women’s Football.

Coach Casimiro was born in Hopkins Village, Stann Creek District. His experience with football started off in primary school and continued through to the Amateur League in Dangriga. Other than his field experience, his coaching experience dates back to 1992 where his love for sports landed him the role of Sports Coordinator when he entered the primary school system as a teacher. Additionally, he also served as a consultant for the planning and organizing of sporting events in the Stann Creek District.

Coach Casimiro earned his Concacaf “D” License in 2012, and extended his coaching to teams outside of school, and used his experience and expertise in coaching the Hopkins Football Club from 2014-2018.

In 2018, he coached the U-15 Female National Team that represented Belize in Miami, and the following year he earned his CONCACAF “C” License. In March of the same year, Coach Casimiro qualified for a prestigious scholarship to attend the University of Physical Education in Budapest, Hungary where he successfully completed a coaching certificate in football.

After returning from Hungary, he coached the U-17 Female National Team that represented Belize in Barbados for the U-17 World Cup Qualifier. Furthermore, he was also assistant coach for the Belize National Senior Male Team.

In the latter part of 2019, he coached the U-20 Female National Team that represented Belize in Guatemala for an UNCAF tournament; and after 27 years as a teacher, Mr. Casimiro is now a full time coach and Coach Educator, advocating for youth development in sports.

We take this opportunity to officially welcome Coach Wayne Casimiro in his new capacity as Coach for Women’s Football. Coach Wayne will also be working alongside the Director of Female Football, Ms. Iris Centeno.
