BELIZE CITY, Mon. May 20, 2019– Jaheem Bradley, 18, a fisherman of a Hunter’s Lane address, pleaded guilty to drug trafficking when he appeared today before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford. Because it was his first offence and he saved the court time, she fined him $2,000 and gave him until September 20 to pay.

If he defaults on payment, he will serve 1 year in prison.

The incident occurred about 9:19 a.m. on Sunday, May 19. Police reported that they were conducting a vehicle checkpoint on Barrack Road when they saw Bradley riding a bicycle with a black plastic bag in his left hand.

They said they stopped Bradley and informed him that a search would be conducted on him for illegal firearms and drugs.

Police said that when they searched the bag, they found 4 parcels that contained suspected cannabis. They said they informed Bradley of what they found and took him and the suspected cannabis to the police station.

When the cannabis was weighed, it amounted to 470 grams, which is approximately 1 pound.
