Gang rivalry leads to shooting in Orange Walk

GeneralGang rivalry leads to shooting in Orange Walk

ORANGE WALK TOWN, Thurs. Dec. 27, 2018– Two men were shot early Christmas morning, December 25, in Orange Walk Town, and police say the incident resulted from gang rivalry. The two men survived and checked themselves out of the Northern Regional Hospital in the afternoon of the same day on which they were shot.

According to police, they went to the hospital at around 7:30 a.m. and found the two men, Llamont Wade, 28, and Pablo Senon Reyes, 21, both of whom have had run-ins with the law. Wade had been wounded in his buttocks and Reyes had a bullet wound in his right foot.

Police said that Wade and Reyes had been socializing at Reyes’ residence on Muffles Street when they were shot. They were approaching the gate, about to leave, when a Hispanic man rode up on a motorcycle and fired shots at them.

ASP Alejandro Cowo said that there have been previous shootings between two different groups from the “back-a-town” area, and the dispute has been ongoing since the murder of the Crips gang leader, Junior Triminio, 34, on August 19, and most likely even prior to that murder.

It is suspected that the shooting of Wade and Reyes was retaliation for, or at least related to, the shooting of David Diaz, 22, on December 23.

Police say that that they are considering the shooting an act of gang rivalry, and are investigating it from that angle, and they have a very good idea of who the suspect is; however they need further cooperation from the victims. So far only Reyes has made a report to the police, even though they have asked Wade to do the same.
