BELMOPAN, Fri. Feb. 12, 2021– On Friday, February 12, the Government of Belize held budget consultations with the National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB) as part of an ongoing process of consultation with private and public sector stakeholders to get their feedback on measures to be taken as the government puts together a budget for the new fiscal year.

Present at the budget consultation with the NTUCB and the Government of Belize were a team of four government ministers and the executive membership of the NTUCB.

Also, on February 11, the team of ministers held consultations with the Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU), and the Association of Public Senior Service Managers (APSSM).

According to a government press release, the meetings held with the BNTU, APSSM and NTUCB were all productive. The release states, “[The meetings] were all productive and focused on meaningful ways of working together to find practical, equitable solutions to the critical financial situation facing the nation.”

The Government of Belize has less than one month before the presentation of the new budget for the coming fiscal year.
