Guatemalan found with loaded assault rifle and grenade in Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Toledo District, Sat. May 9, 2020– A Guatemalan national was busted with a loaded assault rifle, with a scope on it, in a house in Santa Cruz at about 3:00 this morning during a special operation conducted by police. The cops also found a 9mm pistol and a .38 Special revolver, along with a smoke grenade.

The man was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited firearm, and two counts of possession of unlicensed firearms. He will later be arraigned on the charges.

Police said that the operation was mounted early this morning after police were informed that the man was seen heavily armed in the village.
