ORANGE WALK, Mon. May 29, 2023

A man was found dead on his farm in the “Camp 1” area of Shipyard Village, Orange Walk on Sunday, May 28. The deceased was identified as 37-year-old Hipolito Humes, Jr., of Guinea Grass Village.

According to reports, Humes went to the farm, which is situated on the other side of the New River, to tend to the cattle there on the same morning of his demise, but did not return. Later that day, when Humes’ father, Hipolito Humes, Sr., went out to look for him in the evening along with his nephew, they saw the deceased motionless in a face-up position approximately thirty or forty yards behind a wooden house.

There were no physical signs of harm when Humes, Sr., found his son, and he noted to a local media outlet that his son wasn’t bleeding, but parts of his face had turned purple. He was then prompted to call police to the scene.

A post-mortem is scheduled later this week to determine the cause of Humes, Jr.’s death.
