From February 15-17, (Thursday to Saturday of this week), the boys and girls of Gwen Lizarraga High School will be representing the Central Zone in the upcoming 2024 male and female football championships for the National Secondary Schools Sports Association (NSSSA) which are being held at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga Town.

Both groups got their tickets to the championship round by defeating their competition – Wesley College – in the Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) football finals at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City.

In the boys’ finals series, Gwen Liz defeated Wesley, 2-nil and 2-1, for an aggregate 4-1 score and the CSSSA male football championship.

For the girls finals, Gwen Liz clipped Wesley College, 2-nil, in the first game; but Wesley came back to take the second game by a 1-0 score. However, Gwen Liz girls prevailed by an aggregate score of 2-1 to clinch the CSSSA female football championship.

Gwen Liz boys and Gwen Liz girls are now competing in the NSSSA (National Secondary Schools Sports Association) football championships, beginning today at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga.
