Wesley College boys are in the finals of the CSSSA 2025 Male Softball Tournament

The Gwen Liz High and Wesley College boys are both leading the Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) male softball playoffs which continued with semifinal matches by the Paige system at the Rogers Stadium in Belize City on Saturday, March 8.

Pitcher Tyrelle Young led the Wesley College boys as they advanced to the finals by eliminating the Edward P. Yorke boys, 26-16, by mercy rule in the 5th inning. E.P. Yorke pitcher Jaymin Clother struck out 3 batters.

Wesley had entered the playoffs by a 13-9 win over St. John’s College in the playoffs last Thursday, March 6.

The Gwen Liz boys qualified to the finals by a 19-4 win over E.P. Yorke last Wednesday, March 5. E.P. Yorke collected 1 hit off Gwen Liz pitcher, Raymond Gentle, who struck out 1 batter and walked 2. The Gwen Liz boys collected 5 hits off E.P. Yorke pitcher, Jace Ruiz, who struck out 3 batters, but walked 12.

The Wesley boys qualified to the playoffs, as pitcher Tyrelle Young led them to a 21-13 win over St. John’s College and pitcher Kaden Burgess last Tuesday evening.

The St. John’s College boys had reached the playoffs as pitcher Kaden Burgess led them to a 20-3 win over the Anglican Cathedral College boys last Monday, March 3.

The Wesley College boys will challenge the still undefeated Gwen Lizarraga High boys for the city championship in the finals on Saturday morning, March 15.

The winner will represent the Central Zone at the National Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) softball championships, to be hosted by Toledo Community College at the Victor Sanchez Union Stadium in Punta Gorda Town on Friday and Saturday, March 21-22.
