Health on the basis of equality

LettersHealth on the basis of equality

KREM WUB morning show on Thursday, October 28, 2021, was directed by Brother Nuri Muhammad accompanied by his guest, the very good neurologist Dr. John Sosa and of course the callers that were an essential nutrient to the show. It was an informative and educational programme which reminded me of an article published in the Amandala under the caption “Atherosclerosis” on Friday, August 20, 2021. The Organization of the United Nations has a constitution, a set of laws, principles and regulations. But no country that is a member of such organization is obliged to implement any of the signed agreements. For example, 184 nations at the UN General Assembly called for the US to put an end on the economic blockade against Cuba. The UN is just an instrument for the US convenience.

1).- The General Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) which is a branch of the UN, Dr. Tedros Adhanom, stated on May 24, 2021, that: “…Every government has a duty to protect its own people.”

2).- The WHO 1946 Constitution on Human Rights and Health envisages… “The highest attainable standard of health as a fundamental right of every human being.”

3).- According to the preamble of the 1981 Constitution of Belize it states as a priority that: “… and that a just system should be ensured to provide for education and health on the basis of equality.”

Belize at its 40th anniversary has not been able to understand the meaning of the words “health on the basis of equality.” They speak as if they know what they are saying, and their brain can go as far as visualizing the vaccine for COVID-19 as miraculous that it can cure ALL the different diseases and illnesses. The Corozal Community Hospital lacks Angiotrofin for the economically poor people or “the little people down there”. By the way, does the Minister of Health and Wellness have an understanding of what Angiotrofin is good for?
