BELIZE CITY, Mon. Jan. 20, 2025

Henry Moriera won the SHELL Ultra Helix New Year’s Cycling Classic, organized by Weekend Warriors Club, which travelled from Carmelita Village on the Philip Goldson Highway, through the John Smith bypass road, via the Westlake roundabout onto the George Price Highway, to the finish line at the Old Belize Museum at Cucumber Beach on Sunday morning, January 19.

Below are the top finishers in the different Weekend Warrior race categories:    

A Category:1st – Henry Moriera (Digi-Alliance Team, 2:19:56, $1,000 prize & trophy); 2nd –  Gregory Lovell (Team Lovell, $300 prize & trophy); 3rd – Philip Leslie (Team SPD, $250 prize & trophy); 4th – Tariq Flowers (Running Rebels Team, $200 prize & trophy); 5th – Darian Anderson ($150 prize & trophy); 6th – Gabriel Cardozo ( MEX, Team Santino’s, $100 prize); 7th – Sam Vallecillo (Team Santino’s, $75.00 prize); 8th – Kent “Bob” Gabourel (Team SPD, $50.00 prize); 9th – Tyren Tasher (Team Santino’s, $40.00 prize); 10th – Adrian Williams (Wateva Boyz, $30.00 prize); 11th – Ryan Bradley; 12th – Richard Vara; 13th – Shevon Flores; 14th – Preston Martinez; 15th – Luis Balam (MEX, Team Santino’s).

B Category:  1st – Julio Dzul (Team Santino’s, $500 prize & trophy); 2nd – Kenny Gladden (Team Digi Alliance, $250 prize); 3rd Floyd Williams ($200 prize); 4th – Roque Matus (Team M&M Engineering, $150.00); 5th – Roydel Reneau ($100.00 prize); 6th – Fitzgerald “Palas” Joseph (Team M&M Engineering, $75.00); 7th – “Ras” Mark ($60.00); 8th – Gilberto Acosta.

C Category:  1st – Dave Yearwood (Team M&M Engineering, $500 Prize & trophy); 2nd – Warren Coye (Team Santino’s, $250 prize); 3rd Kenneth Butler ($125 prize); 4th “Papa” Card (Team Furnished Apartments Ltd., $75.00 prize); 5th – Richard Gabourel ($60.00 prize); 6th – George Lovell, Sr. ($50.00 prize); 7th – Isaiah Willacey (Team Santino’s, $40.00 prize); 8th – Wilbert Gillett.

Over 80 riders had suited up for the race. All trophies, finish cash prizes, and $50.00 station prize were sponsored by SHELL Ultra Helix motor oils.

Category A Station prizes:  Mile 35- Greg Lovell; Smart tower – Darian Anderson; Gardenia community – Darian Anderson; Precision Auto – Adrian Williams; Club Eruption – Tyrin Tasher; John Smith bypass – Darian Anderson; Mile 8 roundabout – Kent Gabourel.

Category B Station prizes:  Mile 35 – Julio Dzul; Old Highway junction in Sandhill – Julio Dzul; Precision Auto – Julio Dzul; Mile 12 – Julio Dzul; Roadside Diner – Julio Dzul.

Category C Station prizes: Dave Yearwood swept all station prizes at Crooked Tree, Precision Auto Body Shop ($100.00), and Roadside Diner ($25.00).
