Hitchhiker arrested for killing Marcos Ack, 48

INDEPENDENCE, Stann Creek District, Thurs. Dec. 20, 2018– On Monday, December 17, 48-year-old Marcos Ack was viciously stabbed after picking up a hitchhiker.

Yesterday, December 19, police formally arrested and charged this hitchhiker, Hubert Junior Taylor, 26, for the crime of murder.

Ack had picked up Taylor somewhere in the Red Bank area while he was on his way to Independence Village. According to police, Ack did not know Taylor by name, but he had seen him on multiple occasions and was familiar with his face, which might have been why he offered him a ride in his vehicle.

Taylor, who is from Dangriga, allegedly stabbed Ack once in the chest after trying to rob him. After he stabbed Ack, Taylor got out of the vehicle, which had run off the road and headed for the bushes. Police who were in the area noticed what had happened and set chase after Taylor.

The alleged murder weapon, a knife with blood stains on it, reportedly was also found in the vehicle.
